Compare your website with a competitor’s
Put your website next to a competitor’s and see where each stands on the same fifteen checks: secure, set up for phones, easy to call, easy to enquire, and readable by Google. Every row shows what we found on each page, so you can check our working. No score, no email.

- Could not check
What this can and cannot see
It reads
- Each page once, from our server
- The HTML as delivered, before scripts run
- The same fifteen checks on both sites
- Missing only when the HTML proves it
It cannot see
- Rankings or traffic
- Reviews, or how many enquiries come in
- Anything a script adds after the page loads
- A score or a winner: there is none
We only check public websites, and we do not keep the addresses or the results.
How each mark is decided
- Each page, as delivered
- We request each address you give us, from our server, and read the HTML exactly as it arrives, before any JavaScript runs. We try the secure https:// address first, whatever you type.
- The same fifteen checks
- Both sites get exactly the same fifteen checks, so the comparison is like for like.
- Missing means proven
- “Missing” means the HTML we read proves it is not there.
- Could not check, with the reason
- When the HTML cannot prove it, we say “Could not check” and give the reason: the page has almost no text of its own and runs scripts (so it is built in the browser), it shows its content in a frame, or it is larger than the 2 MB we read. A request that fails or is refused is “Could not check” too.
- Enquiry forms, one extra rule
- Scripts so often draw them. If a page runs any scripts or embeds a frame, and we find no enquiry form in its HTML, the result is “Could not check”, never “Missing”: the form may be added after the page loads. Only a form a visitor can see, with contact fields, counts as an enquiry form. A search box or a newsletter sign up is named, not counted.
- Sitemaps
- A sitemap that is not where we looked is “Worth a look”, because it may live elsewhere.
- Empty pages
- A page that comes back empty is not checked at all, and we say so.
- Rankings, traffic, reviews, enquiries
- It compares what is on the two pages, nothing more. It cannot see rankings, traffic, reviews or how many enquiries either site brings in, so it does not guess at them.
- Speed in general
- The time is one measurement of how long each page’s HTML took to arrive. Run it again and it will differ a little.
- A score or a winner
- There is no overall score and no winner. A website that passes every check can still lose work to one that misses a few. The checks tell you what is there, not what it is worth.
- Your addresses, afterwards
- We only check public websites, and we do not keep the addresses or the results.
